Tangarreg Pools is a project to increase the wildlife that regularly visits my small plot of land in rural mid Wales. It is situated alongside the river Aeron meaning that there is an abundance of birds, amphibians, insects and mammals that already use the area for feeding or simply passing through. Four large ponds have been created to attract wildlife into more accessible positions and hides have been built to allow discrete viewing and photography of the visitors. A small outdoor studio area allows for macro photography of locally found subjects including invertebrates from the ponds. Collected samples (eg wasps nests or exuvia) can also be photographed in comfort and with lighting and backdrops to help produce a realistic photograph.
